Fair Usage Policy

What is a fair usage policy?

ADSL lines are typically shared between many users. For example, your broadband line could be shared between you and about 20 to 50 people in your street. If internet service providers impose no limits at all, only a few people downloading constantly can slow down the service for many others. To keep the usage to an acceptable level and hence the costs to everyone minimal, Wazzup Internet has put an acceptable and fair usage policy in place.

Who is it likely to affect?

Examples of customers who might end up going over acceptable usage limits are people who: Share large files on peer to peer networks, Download huge numbers of videos and music or is connected to their workplace or elsewhere using their broadband constantly.

How does our Fair Usage Policy work?

Wazzup Internet's Uncapped products, including shaped and unshaped, calculate the average usage of all users in a product group over a six month rolling window period. Those users who exceed this average is still allowed access to the service but speeds will be limited to allow acceptable service levels for all users.
This applies to all the 384k, 512k and 1-10Mb services. If a customer fails to comply with the fair usage policy, his/her account will be throttled until they are in line with the policy. At the moment 30gig is considered a reasonable download amount.

If you are unhappy with the policy

If you think you are being treated unfairly by our policies you can contact us to confirm that you are on the right package for your needs. You might simply need a bigger package.
